Some people are incapable of being happy. They're just not used to it. Back when I was a nice guy, I dated several girls who were so used to asshole boyfriends that they couldn't cope with the fact that I wasn't a lying, cheating scum who only wanted to get in their knickers.

Now I'm a lying worthless prat that only cares about himself and what I can get out of those around me. Funny, but it seems to draw a large subset of the female population towards me. Not really the kind of women I want to attract, but they're fun to play with for a while. They know, at least at a subconscious level, that they can get the mental abuse that they crave from me, and I know that I am unable to not give it.

Are they happier this way? Doubtful. They're used to it, though, and couldn't handle living any other way.
